The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers is seeking comments for the advisory public review of addenda to refrigeration safety designation and classification standards, according to a release.
The addenda include a change to ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 15-2022, Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems, which proposes addressing commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems for the same refrigerant safety group or a different refrigerant safety group.
These modifications would apply to Sections 5.3, 7.7.3, 7.6.2, and Informative Appendix A for the retrofit guideline.
ASHRAE is also requesting first public reviews of addenda to ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 34-2022, Designation and Safety Classification of Refrigerants. The proposed addenda include adding a number of zeotropic refrigerant blends to Tables 4-2 and D-2 of the standard, which outline specific data and safety classifications.
Refrigerants that are part of the addenda include refrigerant blend R-474B, R-486A, R-487A, R-455B, R-488A. Zeotropic refrigerant blend R-489A is also included, with an addendum adding or revising toxicity values for R-50, R-1150, R-1270 in Table E.
Comments are due Sept. 18.
