- The growth of the franchise-model organization indicates demand, and room to grow, for smaller sized facility service firms.
Dive Insight:
As more building owners struggle with labor shortages and high business costs, third-party service providers have continued to replace in-house facilities’ work. The continuing growth of City Wide exemplifies this shift, and shows the growth of smaller, mid-sized regional service firms that are popping up in-between the work of industry giants such as JLL, Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE.
City Wide looks to expand throughout major U.S. cities and Canada with its franchise model. Through these franchises, the organization provides interior and exterior services to commercial facilities via independent contractors.
The company says this model results in very few hourly workers, and no costs associated with equipment and inventory, which helps building owners to combat labor shortages and reduce the cost of building management.
The Kearny location will be the first opened by Chris LeSauvage, who joined the company in February. Prior to joining and opening this location, LeSauvage held a number of leadership positions at S&P Global Ratings.
This new office also follows City Wide’s fourth Virginia location in Salem, which opened in April and serves the I-81 corridor and greater Roanoke Valley.
Founded in 1961, City Wide aims to become a billion dollar company by the end of 2026. Gross sales at franchise locations ranged from $444,131 to $30.4 million in 2021, with an average unit volume of $6.7 million.
