Clockworks Analytics has acquired the technological property assets of Animated Insights, a digital twin technology provider, according to an Oct. 17 press release.
Animated Insights’ chief technology officer, Howard Davidson, will join Clockworks Analytics as a consulting engineer to help incorporate components of the technology suite into its fault detection and diagnostic platform.
“We are ecstatic about welcoming Howard Davidson to our team and collaborating to create innovative, new features within Clockworks, leveraging technologies such as Azure IoTHub and Azure Digital Twins to further the capabilities of the platform,” Nick Gayeski, co-CEO of Clockworks Analytics, said in the announcement.
The acquisition follows Clockworks securing $16.1 million in capital in August, with the funding round led by Carom Growth Ventures. At the time, Clockworks said it would use the capital to support further product development and to strengthen its international footprint.
The Animated Insights asset acquisition is expected to bolster Clockworks’ connected fault detection and diagnostics product with 3D digital twin visualizations. Clockworks Analytics says it will also leverage Animated Insights’ device discovery technology and cloud-based supervisory control API integrations, which it will use to accelerate research and development efforts underway with the U.S. Department of Energy and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to automate the discovery and repair of HVAC control issues.
Clockworks recently was named the FDD platform provider for EllisDon Facilities Services, where its technology will help that facilities management firm prioritize and address its customers’ critical energy, comfort and equipment issues.
