Hybrid work continues to dominate the U.S. office landscape, presenting a host of challenges for operators, tenants and workers. While employees are positive about returning to the office, they are seeking workplaces that look and function “very differently from the past,” according to a recent global hybrid work report by Cisco.
VergeSense, which studied over 200 global companies last year, suggests that facility managers consider repurposing office spaces to align with evolving employee workplace behaviors. Such measures could involve converting desk areas into more flexible and collaborative spaces.
Meanwhile, employees in the office have expressed difficulty collaborating with team members who are working remotely, Cisco notes. Its report highlights critical areas ripe for improvement, including office layouts, technology and infrastructure that can best support hybrid work.
As these factors continue to impact tenants, building operators are looking for new technologies that can better support hybrid work and provide data on how to best serve employees today. Here is some of Facilities Dive’s recent coverage of developments that examine this trend.
