Dive Insight:
JLL has been placing an increased emphasis on its data center vertical as the industry continues to accelerate due to heightened demands for artificial intelligence and edge computing. To accommodate these needs, the firm reached an agreement in May to acquire SKAE Power Solutions, a New York-based data center design and engineering services firm.
The acquisition will combine SKAE’s 75 employees with JLL Work Dynamics’ existing data center vertical, forming a new technical services division and adding technical depth to its existing offerings, JLL said. The division will be led by SKAE co-founder Peter Skae, who will report to Landek, according to a May 15 news release.
JLL’s data center Work Dynamics team provides lifecycle solutions for data center owners and occupiers, managing 252 sites worldwide, JLL said Tuesday, noting that its experts specialize in operations and facilities management, sustainability, compliance, incident and change management, as well as maintenance and reliability.
Based in Sonoma, California, Vosmaer brings more than 20 years of experience in the data center industry and has led teams of more than 550 operators and technicians across 13 countries, supporting over 800 megawatts of data centers and managing service projects for more than 200 sites, per the release.
“Our data center clients are facing the challenge of keeping aging facilities relevant and financially viable, while concurrently having to adapt to changing workloads that will usher in a new era of design and facility management methodologies,” Vosmaer said. “In addition to helping our continuous improvement journey for customers and colleagues, I am excited to play a part in shaping JLL’s future service offerings.”
In his previous role as vice president of global operations at GLP, Vosmaer led the development of a global data center model and fostered supply chain relationships with vendors and stakeholders, according to his LinkedIn profile, which notes that he began his new role at JLL in May.
