- "This is about more than maintaining equipment — it's about building and sustaining the confidence of American consumers in EVs and charging," Qmerit CEO and founder Tracy Price said in the release.
Dive Insight:
Although the number of U.S. public charging stations continues to grow, a 2024 J.D. Power study reports that customer satisfaction with public charging has declined to its lowest point since 2021, when the company first began measuring it. “Public charging isn’t just bad — it’s getting worse,” J.D. Power said in a Feb. 27 news release. “The industry should view this lack of improvement as a critical issue that requires decisive action,” said Brent Gruber, executive director of J.D. Power’s EV practice, in the release.
Qmerit’s new service would provide customers with the company’s technology platform, which integrates into existing customer or work order management systems, it says, and access to its national network of certified electricians and technicians. The company says the service will help commercial properties such as office parks, entertainment venues, manufacturing facilities and mixed-use developments to meet electrical safety standards and maintain their charging systems at peak performance. This will allow commercial properties to maximize their investments in EV charging and help them comply with the 97% uptime requirement for funding under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, Qmerit says.
“Our entry into the warranty and services arena will help ensure that the safe and reliable charging infrastructure that Americans want, is available when they need it, and will accelerate the electrification of transportation," Price said.
The launch follows Qmerit’s partnership with JLL in October, providing the commercial services firm and its clients with EV charging installations and access to Qmerit’s technician network.
More recently, Qmerit partnered with Rhythmos.io, an EV charging optimization software provider that can more than double EV charging capacity without grid upgrades, Rhythmos.io said in a press release.
