Dive Brief:
- Exterior cleaning company Window Hero is introducing services aimed at boosting exterior cleaning efficiency and providing customers with an additional layer of physical protection.
- Through a partnership with artificial intelligence robotics firm Lucid Bots, Window Hero will provide drone-powered exterior cleaning services that can tackle larger structures more efficiently, the company said in a news release Thursday. Window Hero is also offering customers a security window film that it says can help commercial clients reinforce their external barriers.
- The drone-powered cleaning service is cost-effective, reduces cleaning time and requires a smaller crew and fewer tools, Window Hero President David Blue said in a statement. The security window film can protect schools and businesses from intruders and “bring comfort during dangerous situations,” Blue added.
Dive Insight:
Window Hero’s drone partnership with Lucid Bots will involve using aerial robots for commercial pressure washing and window cleaning for buildings up to 15 stories high, cleaning hard-to-reach areas in less than half the time it takes for traditional pressure washing, says Window Hero, a subsidiary of HomeFront Brands.
The Lucid Bots drone, called the Sherpa, integrates with any existing soft-wash pump system and can clean up to 300 square feet per minute, according to the release.
Lucid Bots says its drone cleaning can cost up to 80% less than traditional methods of renting lifts and other heavy equipment for cleaning while reducing the risk of injuries from working aboveground and addressing worker shortages in the exterior window cleaning industry.
The Sherpa can be controlled from the ground, eliminating the need for expensive anchor systems on buildings, according to a Lucid Bots brochure.
The security film Window Hero is offering can prevent entry if the window is shot or broken and make it more difficult for intruders to look into buildings, the company said.
